Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 10/01/2009 04:22:02 Caldari give you range. They also give you a choice between big shields or big EWar. If they gave you damage as well then suddenly the other races would start to seem awfully inferior. Don't conflate "Caldari suck" with "missiles suck", because the two aren't one in the same.
If what people are saying about stealth bombers being unable to deliver more than paltry damage to stationary targets is true then fine, missiles need tweaking. But despite any problems they may have with explosion velocity right now missiles still give launcher users a longer ranged unbonused weapon than anything else of similar size (even rockets have an optimal several times longer than small short-ranged turrets, for example) and the ability to pick and choose damage types better than anything else.

Originally by: Xiao Endo I'm not that knowledgeable about the benefits and drawbacks of various race's ships, so I'm not going to pretend that I know anything about that. However, assuming that the OPs complaint is true, then I think that's a good thing. More players go for Caldari ships than any other, so encouraging a bit of diversity by nerfing the most popular race is definitely wise and can only benefit the game as a whole.
Meh. Nerfing half the ships from a race to get people to cross train probably isn't the wisest idea, and I'm sure that's not what CCP was doing with the missile nerf. Missiles did need to be changed in conjunction with the changes to ship speed but apparently it was just too much.
Me personally I haven't noticed any problems and I fly several missile ships for PvE and PvP, they just aren't missile battleships which got hit the hardest by the changes. Missiles are still the easiest thing to use in PvE and Caldari mission boats are probably still the most popular. |

Originally by: Tatiana Wisla Yes, it's the most popular race for carebearing, maybe...but that's about it.
And EWar, fleet sniping, and POS repping. |

Originally by: Commander Predator do you know how long it takes to train something else to the point of even just decent? about a year, and to get "l33t" about 2 years, i have a feeling some people dont wanna throw a couple hundred of dollars on subscription just for training and cant do anything becuase the race they have specced in for years is now useless.
If this is the case then someone has a really distorted opinion of "just decent', or they piled every stat point and learning skill into Empathy. In two and a half years I've trained these on one account. Three frigate races are at 5 (and all associated T2 frigs at 4), two cruiser races at 5 (HACs at 4, Recons need three more training hours until level 4), and BCs at 5. All ship types listed in the previous sentence can use relevant T2 weapons (edit: oh wait need a measly three more weeks for T2 energy stuff), and have associated tanking skills at 4 or 5. Navigation skills are all at 4 or 5. All general support skills are at 5.
And that's considering I have millions of SPs dedicated to industrial or science skills that I never even use. I know that against a player who actually has fully specialized in something I'll be at a disadvantage so I'm not trying to brag, but really it does not take a year to get decent in another race of ships.

try a yr to yr 1/2.. when you have spent 2years to max your skills for a ship you wont to be the best in and they **** it up on you then you come back here and say something..
NOB!
Nobody should be max specced for any individual ship or size class of any race until they're at least decently invested, SP-wise, in skills for other size classes and races. Max speccing at the expense of versatility is just asking to get ****ed by the game designers. |

Originally by: Donkee Punch Sadly will this actually happen? Most likley not.. it's easier to whine and moan than take affimative action.
Also because CCP isn't going to check the missile SPs vs. non-missile SPs of people who quit.
